Calculators
Work out your own numbers first.
Five calculators, no sign-up, no email capture. Each runs entirely in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere — including to me.
- The power of compounding What regular saving becomes over time at three different rates — and what each decade of waiting costs you. Best for: Anyone who has not started yet Open the calculator
- Life coverage calculator Debts, plus the income your household would lose, plus what you intend to fund — minus what already exists. Best for: Anyone with a mortgage or dependants Open the calculator
- TFSA room estimator Cumulative room from the year you actually became eligible, which for a newcomer is not 2009. Best for: Newcomers especially Open the calculator
- RRSP or TFSA? Compares the two at your own tax rates, since the answer turns entirely on whether your rate falls. Best for: Anyone choosing where the next $5,000 goes Open the calculator
- RESP grant calculator Basic grant, the income-tested additional grant, and the Learning Bond that needs no contribution at all. Best for: Parents and grandparents Open the calculator
- Income protection gap What would actually arrive if you could not work — including the taxable-benefit trap in group plans. Best for: Self-employed, trades, single-income households Open the calculator
What a calculator can and cannot tell you
These produce estimates, not recommendations. They cannot see your workplace benefits booklet, your pension adjustment, an existing policy with a convertibility deadline, or the fact that your parents are moving in next year. What they are good for is arriving at a conversation with a number in your head instead of taking someone else's.
Ready to go further? The guided intake forms turn a number into a prepared application, still without sending anything anywhere.
Bring your number to a twenty-minute call.
We check it against what you already have, and price the difference from more than one insurer.
